Recycle clean plastic flower pots at Dobbie’s, Meole Brace island or Blue Diamond(Percy Throwers) Garden Centre on Oteley Road. Suggest they transfer plants from their plastic pot into a cardboard option.

There are all sorts of products available where it is inferred they are natural or suitable for organic gardening. Some are fine but for many the logo, name or description is misleading. Look carefully at exactly what is on offer.

Gardens often need structures of some sort from a simple trellis to much more ambitious buildings. Make sure these are made of materials from sustainable sources.  Forest Stwardship Council (FSC) certified timber for instance.)

You can now take them to the Battlefield Recycling Centre, where there there is a designated skip for old carpets.  If you need it collecting, see AAT Recycling, above.

You can use an old carpet (topside down) on weed areas in your garden to  prepare the ground for digging: makes a good cover for the top of a compost bin too.
