A farm museum which also runs courses in traditional country crafts and trades
Here in Shrewsbury we live in a tourist destination but sometimes we want to go off and be tourists ourselves. It follows that we have a dual role when supporting tourism that has a low environmental impact.
When relatives and friends come to Shropshire and we are advising them where else to go, having stayed a few days with us, we can suggest travel, places and activities that minimise environmental damage. We are so lucky that there are many fantastic places to visit, varied landscapes, great accommodation and enjoyable activities all on our doorstep.
LOCAL TRAVEL Touring means travel, and all kinds of transport except cycling and walking have a downside environmentally. So - look into how travel in the area can be done without leaping into a car. Remember Shrewsbury is a rail hub with lines going north south east and west, and if trains don't meet the need then buses may. For the cyclist there is a network of routes throughout the county using quieter roads and lanes. Camping and canal travel offer peaceful holidays near to nature and landscape.
